Consonus Pharmacy is offering medication-related education to Medication Aides and Caregivers. Any facility staff are welcome to attend. Classes are FREE to all Consonus clients and a small fee for non-Consonus clients. To Crush or Not to Crush, that is the Question! Guidance when a Medication Cannot be Crushed.

FreeConsultant Pharmacist Ceclilia Engstrom teaches this class. The practice of crushing medications is common practice for residents with swallowing difficulties. Learn how to evaluate when it is safe to modify the form of medication. Altering some medications can pose a risk to both residents and nursing staff. In this session, a pharmacist will review the best clinical practices for safely crushing medications and offer guidance for alternatives.
This 1.0-credit continuing education class is FREE to all Consonus clients. Anyone is welcome to join the class – Nurses, Administrators, Caregivers, Med Aides, etc. Oregon CMAs, Minnesota RNs and LPNs, and Nebraska and lowa Medication Aides/Medication Managers are eligible to earn CE credit for this course.
