ABOUT ME

For Melissa Chase, RN, BSN, her rewarding and accomplished health care career began by accident—literally. She was only 17, and had been hospitalized after a serious car wreck. At a time when she most needed compassionate care, Melissa felt her nurses failed to provide it, so she decided to effect change by becoming a nurse herself.

She earned her nursing degree from Linfield School of Nursing and began her career as a hospital staff and charge nurse at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Ore. Before joining Consonus in 2004, she served as Nurse Consultant Manager and Pharmacy Operations Coordinator with Evergreen Pharmaceutical.

Now as Director of Nurse Consulting, Melissa supervises Consonus nurse consultants, ensuring customer satisfaction and developing nursing services that are relevant to current regulatory requirements and safe for the patients served. She leads the pharmacy’s Patient Safety Team, and is dedicated to keeping patient safety at the center of every decision made.

Skilled in client care and customer satisfaction, Melissa is also certified in Teepa Snow’s “Positive Approach to Care” program. She’s driven by process improvement opportunities in systems that impact medication safety, and is a frequent Trusted Adviser presenter on related topics at the state and national level.

Outside work, Melissa’s free time is spent with her husband and two boys water skiing, snow skiing, hiking and other athletic pursuits. Along with Consonus colleagues, she and her family adopt residents from customer facilities each December, and deliver holiday gifts personally. She’s also a frequent volunteer with the Vital Life Foundation, and actively supports its partner charities.
