Consonus Pharmacy Services is committed to providing diverse and distinctive education that long term care professionals can utilize to advance their knowledge, meet re-licensure requirements, and enhance their overall educational needs. In partnership with local colleges, universities and pharmacy providers, Consonus offers education for Administrators, Physicians, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Residents and family members and all levels of Nursing and Social Service staff. In some instances college credit is granted.
Educational sessions are designed to meet the busy work schedules of long term care professionals. They’re generally scheduled in the morning, afternoon and evening so staff members from all shifts can attend. Upon request, consulting pharmacists and nurses are available to conduct in-services at your facility including “mini” in-services at shift change for updates or just in time education. Family night and special family caregiver programs are also available upon request.
Full day and half day workshops are offered on such topics as pain management, administering IV’s, regulatory changes and documentation. A multi-day workshop is offered twice a year specific to sub-acute nursing.
In-services are routinely offered on such topics as new medications, disease process, documentation, wellness programs, controlled medications, infection control and medication errors. Consonus is happy to customize in-services for all its customers.
Pharmacists provide ongoing drug information on new medications, new treatment guidelines and evidence-based medicine guidelines relating to geriatrics. A pharmacist is always on call to answer drug related questions.
Consonus has designed a special series of classes to assist Certified Medication Aides to meet their continuing education requirement. Two-hour sessions are offered every other month on topics related to medication and medication administration. We have built a library of articles and websites exclusive to CMA continuing education. We can also provide periodic Med Pass audits for medication administration staff.
Consonus has an educational lending library with audio and video tapes and CD-ROMS. If you have a special need for educational tools, Consonus can create a variety of forms, teaching tools and tests including assessment scales for depression, pain, cognitive performance, MMSE, DISCUS and AIMS tests.
